Copyright Assignment Agreement

The author of a work is usually required to assign all or part of their rights to the work to intermediaries with the necessary resources to ensure the best possible distribution and to collect royalties. The copyright assignment agreement is the ideal legal instrument for this purpose.

It is, however, important to note the difference between a licensing agreement and copyright assignment agreement. A licensing agreement is an agreement by which an author grants permission to use a work in consideration for a royalty payment (e.g. granting permission to produce a play).
