Letter of Hire - Chief Information Officer
A Chief Information Officer (CIO) plans, organizes, directs and supervises all activities related to infrastructure management and IT support, such as by responding to the needs of employees and management, to improve quality and maximize productivity.
This letter of hire template provides the main elements to define the rights and obligations of the CIO and the corporation; however, it is presented in a much shorter form than the related Employment Agreement template (C03400).
Letter of Hire - Chief Information Officer
We recommend using this letter of hire when the terms of employment are very straightforward (in contrast to template C03400). In some cases, the letter of hire may also serve as a promise to hire when an employment agreement will be signed at a later date.
It should be noted that in Canada there are no legal provisions requiring an employer and an employee to sign a formal employment agreement. A simple verbal agreement is sufficient to establish the employment relationship. However, a verbal agreement may fail to clearly define the rights and obligations of the parties or provide the legal framework to meet their specific needs.
